Hillbilly Joel plays the music of Billy Joel re-imagined through the eyes of a Country Boy.
While Billy Joel mingled with Uptown Girls and Movie Stars, Hillbilly Joel daydreamed of Rhinestone Cowgirls and the Grand Ole Opry, while woodshedding at a beat-up upright piano, stuck awkwardly in an oversized bay window, looking out over a midwestern corn-field.
“The first time I heard Billy Joel on the radio, he blew my mind. It was unlike anything I’d ever heard before” says Hillbilly Joel. “His songs got stuck in my head, and his lyrics described a big city world that I could only imagine. I honed my harmonica skills while watering the cows, Billy Joel probably practiced his while riding the subway. Hell to me, a subway was just a big sandwich.”
