#IDidItForTheTurkey Annual Fundraiser Kick Off for The Al Copeland Foundation

WHAT:

Parkway Bakery and Tavern is taking over Port Orleans Brewing Company for the day in anticipation of the annual #IDidItForTheTurkey fundraiser in November. Parkway Bakery and Tavern will serve its world-famous Thanksgiving poor boy ahead of the Thanksgiving holidays. Port Orleans Brewing will serve its limited release #IDidItForTheTurkey Friendsgiving Saison holiday beer. All ticket proceeds from the event, as well as $1 per pint of beer, will go to the Al Copeland Foundation and support its fight to save lives and end cancer. “We are thrilled to have Parkway take over for the day,” said Zach Strief, Port Orleans owner. “Being a part of giving back to our community it who we are and this event kicks off an even bigger fundraiser next month.”

Two levels of tickets are available: $40 tickets include a half Thanksgiving poor boy, sweet potato fries and a #IDidItForTheTurkey t-shirt; $20 tickets include poor and fries. T-shirts are also available separately for $20.

The Al Copeland Foundation supports new local cancer research, education and patient programs at the Copeland-LSU Health Science Center Partnership in Viruses, Cancer and Immunotherapy. Parkway Bakery and Tavern, located at 538 Hagan Avenue, has been serving legendary poor boy sandwiches for over 100 years. It has been a family owned and operated business since 1911, and owner Jay Nix has continued that tradition since the day he purchased Parkway from the original family in 1995. “Teaming up with the Al Copeland Foundation was a natural for us,” said Nix. “Family in New Orleans is so important and Al and his family share that sentiment with us. We are proud to be a part of the Al Copeland Foundation’s mission to save lives and end cancer.”
